2025年4月12日，德国GMP建筑师事务所与上海市欧美同学会留德语国家分会在上海久事艺术沙龙联合举办 “UMBAU?改建：不间断转变”的建筑改造与城市更新主题研讨会，合伙人陈旭东受邀发表了题为《想象的重构》的演讲。

演讲以德默营造建筑事务所和陈旭东的三个项目“边界逸景”、“记忆显影”和“空间叙事”为例，探讨了在城市更新与建筑改造实践中的持续思考。演讲强调场所、类型与叙事的重要性，展现了对历史价值与生活经验相结合的创新思考。

On April 12, 2025, GMP (von Gerkan, Marg and Partners Architects) and SORSA (Shanghai Overseas Returned Scholars Association German Branch) held a symposium "UMBAU. Nonstop Transformation" themed on architectural renovation and urban renewal in Jiushi Art Salon in Shanghai. Partner Xudong CHEN was invited to deliver a speech titled "The Reconstruction of Imagination".

The speech explores practical reflections on urban renewal and architectural transformation through three case studies by DAtrans and CHEN, “Grenzescape”, "Memory Processor" and "Spatial Narrative". The speech emphasizes the significance of place, typology and narrative, demonstrating innovative thinking that bridges historical value and living experience.
